About me, and what I do here…
Sometimes I write. Sometimes.
There is nothing special about me. I am not that important, and I can’t think of a reason why you should read my stuff — unless you like it, and come back — or disagree with it and want to comment. Or, maybe, because I don’t claim to be important.
I’m an ordinary American of seventy-some years, retired programmer, married, father of two sons, jack of too many hobbies, and fond of my fellow h.s.
I am not a Democrat, not a Republican; not much of a joiner. I’m a guy that, without indulging tribal affiliations, notices stuff.
My take on the stuff I notice is sometimes at odds with current fashion. There’s not a cool bone in my body, and I’m a little proud of that because cool is just another damned uniform that others expect you to wear.
I write stuff here; ponder it, compare it to past experience, learn from others’ comments and writings, change my opinions, and life goes on. Until it doesn’t.
Sometimes I write about political matters, sometimes about flyfishing, sometimes about photography, travel, literature, family, friends, acquaintances, and maybe even my dog.
I don’t promise to write on any particular schedule. I’m retired, and deadlines are things of the past. I promise to read all your comments but don’t promise to reply to all of them. Life is precious and brief.
Although free on Substack, my material is protected by copyright. My articles contain a button that can be used to obtain permission to reprint or repost my material. It’s okay, of course, to link to any of my articles. In fact, I’d appreciate it. If you do, let me know in the comments.

You don’t have to pay to write, either. Substack is free and open to all who want to write.
We all went to school. We all learned to read and write. Except for our first and last days, we all have precisely the same amount of time, 24 hours a day. Don’t merely wish that I, or anybody else, would add to what we write, or write something different. Write it yourself! Anybody can. And leave a comment so I can enjoy what you write.
